The Power of Storytelling | Think College

thinkcollege.net

“The shortest distance between two people is a story.” – Patti Digh The power of storytelling has always intrigued me: how sharing stories can spark attention and connect us together. It’s through this connection of relating to one another that we can begin to care and take action.

University Spotlight: Gwynedd Mercy UniversityIntegrated Studies at Gwynedd Mercy University is rounding out its third semester in operation. Gwynedd Mercy University is one of the five model programs collaborating on the 2020-2025 TPSID grant along with Millersville University, Temple University, Duquesne University, and Lock Haven University. As Integrated Studies grows (from 7 students currently enrolled to 14-16 students in the Fall of 2021), they have welcomed a new Assistant Program Coordinator: Kirsten Edling! This year presented many challenges for college students across the country as we all pivoted to remote and hybrid offerings. Integrated Studies students demonstrated resilience, adaptability and flexibility as they navigated this new era of college alongwith their peers. We continued to see students taking courses and fully immersing themselves in our academic course offerings, participating in 22 unique course sections. This semester, five students completed hybrid internships within the campuscommunity at the following partner sites: Catherine’s Cupboard (on-campus food pantry), History Department, Occupational Therapy Department, Women’s Lacrosse Team, Men’s Baseball Team, and the Education Department/Autism Institute. Twostudents are completing their internships off campus, at the Doylestown YMCA and the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. We also saw students participating in clubs/organizations virtually including: Best Buddies, Education Outreach Club, Voices of Gwynedd, Residence Hall Association and events hosted by the Student Activities Council and Student Government AssociationWe are excited for continued growth and welcoming students back to campus in the Fall!
